Randy Rhoads was the incredible virtuoso guitarist of the Ozzy Osbourne band, discovered by Ozzy in 1980 and dead by 1982 in a tragic plane crash. He didn't drink too much or do drugs like wildman Ozzy, he just practiced...no matter how successful his album was, he never felt he should rest on these laurels and just wanted to keep on with the one thing he loved...his guitar.

The worst part of it was Randy was terrified of flying and old went into the aircraft after much persuading, sadly it would be his final journey of a life that had only just begun.

It's been nearly 25 years since Randy's death, but his playing and dedication to the guitar still manages to inspire those around today.

I hope you're playing some badass stuff in heaven!

GREAT INSPIRATION

Randy's playing on the first two Ozzy solo albums made a massive impact on my life. His playing was far ahead of it's time, and his uniqueness and fluidity were and are one of a kind. I've been missing him since the day he passed. R.I.P. Randy.
